The death of my powder foundation

This happened last night...

I guess it was my fault too, for leaving my make-up kit where Miley could reach it. But I was pretty sure I had it zipped up (of course how could I forget that Miley can now unzip things?). Anyway, it happened in a nanosecond. Suddenly Miley was holding the make-up kit upside down and shaking it so the stuff inside all fell down to the floor. I knew the foundation was smashed even before I opened the compact. My blush was slightly damaged as well.

Ok, you might think I'm making a big deal out of this but let me explain. I'm not really a make-up kind of person. I have probably 5 items in my kikay kit - my concealer, powder foundation, blush, eyebrow brush, and lipstick. I don't stock up on different types of designer labels or have expensive brushes. I'll just buy once I've completely used up something and then I'll usually wait until there's a sale. Plus, I don't really care about the brand as long as its cheap.

Anyway, my insightful husband once told me that its ok to spend on make-up since I use it most of the time, not like clothes which usually just gets stuck in the back of my closet. His analogy was that he spends a fortune on the right brand of shoes since cheap, fake ones could damage his feet. So by using whatever type of make-up on my face, I could just end up irritating my skin. Hmmm, he had a point. So off I went and bought my first Shu Uemura powder foundation. Yes it was very pricey by my standards but the quality was indeed great.

So you can just imagine how dismayed I was that this happened! Makes me want to buy cheap make-up all over again so that I won't be depressed if I lose or break it. Anyway, Miley must have felt that I was kind of upset because she was being so sweet to me. When her dad called her to go to the other room, she kept tugging at my dress saying "come on mommy, let's go" Awww, how could I stay mad at that? =)

Well, I can still use the powder anyway. Moral of the story, keep your make-up out of reach of children if you don't want them to play with it!
