The Bourne Legacy Asian Premiere
Just came from the premiere of The Bourne Legacy, probably the most anticipated movie here in Philippines!
It was held in Resorts World Manila and this was probably the closest thing to a Hollywood premiere event. Everyone was all glammed up and I was half expecting the stars of the movie to be walking down the red carpet giving interviews haha!
Before the screening, Hollywood producer Pat Crowley, who flew in from New York just for this premiere, said some extremely nice things about the Philippines and the Filipino people. He also said this was actually the first time they had a premiere in one of the cities they shot the movie in. Wow!
They also showed a video message from the stars of the movie, Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz, and Jeremy Renner, thanking everyone who worked so hard on the movie.
Well, I have to say it was a very surreal experience seeing your country up there on the big screen knowing this was a Hollywood movie. In other movies where they used the Philippines as a location, usually they would say it was another country like Vietnam or Thailand. But now, they were showing the Philippines AS the Philippines, which is something to be really proud of. It was so cool seeing Manila and all the familiar places like Edsa, the LRT station, the jeepneys and taxis, and many more. And hearing the extras speak Tagalog was great since we don't need subtitles to understand them! Plus seeing familiar Filipino faces as well (I won't say who so you'll just be surprised!).
I've only seen the first Bourne movie (a really long time ago), so I admit I was confused at some parts haha! You really have to pay attention since they do a lot of talking in the first half. It was kinda boring for me. The most exciting part of the movie was definitely the 2nd half which was when the location was already in the Philippines. You could tell everyone was just waiting for that part in the movie. It was so funny since the first time they mentioned the word "Manila", everyone started cheering and clapping! I think it will be like that in other screenings as well since people will just be so excited to see our country!
I still think the original Bourne movie (with Matt Damon) is way better. The story of this one is kind of mababaw for me, especially the ending haha! But I had a really great time and I'm so happy I was one of the first to watch this movie in the world! Hopefully, we'll have more international movies shot in our country after this one. So head out to the cinemas and catch The Bourne Legacy when it opens this week to experience some Pinoy pride. =)

The finish line
And now I can breathe! Just found out a while ago that hubby already finished the Ironman triathlon race. According to him, his body was shutting down already on the bike (like I mentioned, he got sick just a few days ago) but I'm still so proud of him for finding the strength to cross that finish line. Thank you God! =)
Update:
Here's a pic of Vins during the bike portion of the race. Good thing it was sunny in Cebu on that day, unlike the rainy weather here in Manila.
Piolo Pascual was also there in Cebu (he was part of a relay team) and I kept telling Vins to have a picture taken with him (sorry, I really love Papa P)! Can you believe they were also together on the flight home, as in just a few seats away from each other, and still no pic?! Haaaay, men! Instead, he gets a photo with the women's champion Caroline Steffen.
Here's the welcome home banner me and the kids made to surprise Vins when he got home. He LOVED it! =)
The most important thing about finishing? Well, aside from your own personal satisfaction and accomplishment, why the medal of course! ;p Look at the gorgeous medal they gave out this year, designed by none other than Kenneth Cobonpue.
So again, congratulations to all the participants and finishers! Good job to all of you (especially to my hubby!). You all deserve to relax and unwind... and then train again for the next race. ;p

Good luck to all Ironman participants!
My hubby, Vins, is now in Cebu getting ready for the big triathlon race tomorrow. As you can imagine, I'm a nervous wreck. Actually I always get nervous whenever he races. I can't sleep and I wake up really early just itching to find out the results. Its just because I know how hard he trains and I just want him to do well.
I'll be praying extra hard since the weather has been really bad lately, and hopefully no accidents happen out there. I'm also extra stressed since Vins got a little sick too (he caught it from us when me and the kids got colds last week, so I feel really guilty!). Super bad trip since he's been in perfect shape all this time, and he gets sick 3 days before the event! So please, please pray for him too that he does well tomorrow.
Anyway, I'll probably won't be getting much sleep tonight until the race is done. Then I can breathe! I'll be following the live updates online so fingers and toes crossed! =)

DIY Sunburst Wallart (version 2)
Here's another version of the sunburst wallart I did using corrugated paper. This time though, I used different colors and a mirror in the center instead of a cork pad.
For detailed instructions on how I made the rays, just check out my post here. Anyway, here are the materials:
- corrugated paper (P69.50 per pack at National Bookstore)
- pencil, ruler, scissors (to make the rays)
- masking tape
- glue gun
- mirror
I found this small round mirror at Daiso / Japan Home Centre for just P66. The diameter at 3.5" was just the perfect size.
Instead of overlapping the rays like I did last time, I just laid them all flat and placed them side by side. I did have some trouble though since the size of the rays didn't form a perfect circle. That's why I adjusted the sizing of the white rays (notice how they're thinner than the rest).
Once I was happy with the arrangement of the colors, I then taped all the rays together at the back.
Then, just glue gun the mirror to the center...
And there you have it, a super cute and inexpensive sunburst mirror. This is so light you can just use heavy duty double sided tape to stick it to your wall. I still have to figure out where to put this though, maybe in my son's room once I get around to fixing it up? =)

Photo of the Day: Gummi Worms
Look what we found in our garden! OMG, this is the first time I've seen caterpillars up close and this huge. Probably coz they're eating up all our plants! Me and the kids were mesmerized watching them, especially their eyes! The one in front looks really mad uh-oh! lol ;p

Turning 30: 30 Things Every Woman Should Have And Should Know
It's now August and my birthday month. =) I'm turning the big 3-0 very soon! Anyway, in honor of this momentous event, I'm posting this very fitting article I read online, which has actually been shared and circulated in various social networks already. Since I have a couple of days left before my birthday, I think I should really check if I passed this list or not. ;p
By 30, you should know...
By
30, you should have ...
1. One old boyfriend you can
imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you’ve come.
2. A decent piece of furniture
not previously owned by anyone else in your family.
3. Something perfect to wear if
the employer or man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
4. A purse, a suitcase, and an
umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.
5. A youth you’re content to
move beyond.
6. A past juicy enough that
you’re looking forward to retelling it in your old age.
7. The realization that you are
actually going to have an old age -- and some money set aside to help fund it.
8. An email address, a voice
mailbox, and a bank account -- all of which nobody has access to but you.
9. A résumé that is not even
the slightest bit padded.
10. One friend who always makes
you laugh and one who lets you cry.
11. A set of screwdrivers, a
cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
12. Something ridiculously
expensive that you bought for yourself, just because you deserve it.
13. The belief that you deserve
it.
14. A skin-care regimen, an
exercise routine, and a plan for dealing with those few other facets of life
that don’t get better after 30.
15. A solid start on a
satisfying career, a satisfying relationship, and all those other facets of
life that do get better.
By 30, you should know...
1. How to fall in love without
losing yourself.
2. How you feel about having
kids.
3. How to quit a job, break up
with a man, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
4. When to try harder and when
to walk away.
5. How to kiss in a way that
communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn’t like to happen next.
6. The names of the secretary
of state, your great-grandmothers, and the best tailor in town.
7. How to live alone, even if
you don’t like to.
8. Where to go -- be it your
best friend’s kitchen table or a yoga mat -- when your soul needs soothing.
9. That you can’t change the
length of your legs, the width of your hips, or the nature of your parents.
10. That your childhood may not
have been perfect, but it’s over.
11. What you would and wouldn’t
do for money or love.
12. That nobody gets away with
smoking, drinking, doing drugs, or not flossing for very long.
13. Who you can trust, who you
can’t, and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
14. Not to apologize for
something that isn’t your fault.
15. Why they say life begins at 30
What's on your
personal list of things to have and know - and possibly do - before turning
30? or 40? or even 50?
List excerpted from Glamour's "Thirty Things Every Woman Should Have and Should Know By The Time She's 30."
