Scrapbook in a Box with A Sweet Cottage

Last May 21, I attended the Scrapbook in a Box workshop by Maricel Mendoza of A Sweet Cottage.

This creative gathering was held at Spoon eat + drink in BF Paranaque. Let me just say that I am in love with this space! It's quite small but beautifully decorated. Definitely the perfect place to get our creative juices flowing. ;p

Maricel gave useful tips in photography 101 and the importance of printing photos. For this workshop, she asked all the participants to bring 20-25 travel pictures to use for our scrapbooks. To be honest, I haven't printed out any of my personal photos for years now! I'm sure most of you are the same, just keeping them in our social media accounts, computers or hard drives right?

Well, it was so hard for me to narrow down which photos to print because of course, there were so many! I ended up choosing 40 photos from our previous family trips. And when I had them printed, my kids were so excited seeing the developed photos! It just made me realize that they're so used to seeing their pictures on a phone, iPad, or computer screen only. The hard copy is such a novelty!

The great thing about Maricel's Scrapbook in a Box is that everything you need for this project is included in the kit she lovingly prepared already. There was a booklet, ribbons, pens, washi tape, and decorative labels.

Let me tell you, it was so fun and therapeutic to work on a scrapbook pala! This was my first time and I just loved arranging the photos and adding the decorations per page. I could do this all day!

One of the participants, Ria, does calligraphy and she even helped me out with my cover. Check out her Instagram @riamakes to see more of her work.

This workshop has really inspired me to preserve my memories. I mean, don't you just love looking at your family's old photos albums? It's a bit sad when I think that my kids won't have something like that in the future. And we spend so much money on our travels, so isn't it worth our time to print and document them to be treasured by the next generation?

It was really a lovely afternoon well spent. Thank you again to Maricel and to the rest of the sponsors (Printsonalities, Kieshables, Paper Blush PH, Ad Stain and Spoon). Oh, and I even won in the raffle, a pencil case from Maricel's own line, Maggie Leather Crafts. I swear, this lady does it all! :)

Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated for any future workshops from A Sweet Cottage. I think a calligraphy one might be next, and I'm definitely excited for that! :)
