Sea World is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, and theme park and includes rides, animal exhibits and other attractions. It promotes conservation through education and the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured or orphaned wildlife.
The kids loved getting up close and personal with a lot of animals like dolphins, sting rays, penguins, and even sharks.
They loved the interactive pool where you could touch starfish and sea cucumbers.
We enjoyed exploring the world’s largest man-made lagoon system for sharks where you could also see lots of tropical fish, sting rays and other bottom-dwellers.
There's an underwater viewing area where you can see the different fish and sharks glide past the huge glass windows.
Sea World is also home to the smallest penguins in the world called the Fairy penguins. We were able to catch them during feeding time.
Of course, we were super excited about Sea World’s amazing new family attraction - Nickelodeon Land!
The Nickelodeon-themed area includes kid-sized rides, Sea World’s first ever mini rollercoaster, new shows and character appearances by Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
It was so funny because my kids, especially my 7 year old daughter, didn't want to watch the Dora show anymore because it was too "babyish" already! I had to remind her how addicted she was to the show before and how she and her brother even dressed up as Dora and Boots for Halloween! ;p
They enjoyed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live show though, which featured the turtles dancing and helping April fight the bad guys.
The kiddie rollercoaster, SpongeBob's Boating School Blast, was so fun!!!
Hubby had to convince me and the kids to try out the Storm Coaster though. It was a coaster and water ride in one so you'll definitely get wet since there's a huge splash at the end.
We did try it but just once since it was really scary for us lol! The little boy was definitely not happy after haha! But hey, you gotta try everything at least once right? ;p
This pic deserves a close-up hahaha! Check out how terrified me and the kids were during the drop!!! Damn you hubby! hahaha! ;p
Another coaster was the Jet Rescue where you ride your very own Jetski, but the kids didn't meet the height requirement. Hubby rode it and said it was really super fast!
There was also an interactive adventure playground called Castaway Bay. Armed with over eighty water cannons, the Battle Boats ride will take you on a splashtacular adventure where you can expect to get wet while having tonnes of family fun.
The Sky Fortress has five exciting levels where you can climb, crawl and clamber your way through rope bridges, tunnels, slides and much, much more.
There were definitely a lot of things to see and do at Sea World. We went on a weekday so there weren't a lot of people and hardly any lines. We had a great time and learned a lot about conserving and taking care of the ocean and marine life. Definitely a must visit when in the Gold Coast!
