Mothers Who Brunch: Getting pampered at Discovery Primea
Last September 10, I was invited to another Mothers Who Brunch event in Discovery Primea. I love going to these events because I get to spend the day with fellow moms, as well as have some "me" time. We were first given a tour of the hotel, then shown the spa and salon where us ladies would experience a few hours of pampering.
The Terazi Spa, which is located at the 3rd floor of the hotel, offers many luxurious treatments which features a menu of traditional and natural healing therapies.

Back to Black
The last time I had my hair colored was waaaay back in June. That was when I had it done in Fringe Salon and really went for a lighter shade (the lightest my hair has ever been actually). Here's the pics from that salon trip:

Fringe Salon in Alabang
I was beyond excited when I was invited by Patty (of Mrs C's Sugarcoated Life) and Michelle (of Momma 'N Manila) to an afternoon of pampering at Fringe Salon in Alabang, which opened last October 2013.
The first thing that came to mind when I stepped inside is how posh the place looked. I loved the sleek, modern interiors and yet it still has that homey feel to it. It is very evident that owner Evelyn R. Tagle has paid particular attention to detail when she set up this space. No wonder it has since become a favourite neighbourhood salon for many residents in the area.
The second floor of the salon has 2 VIP rooms which clients can use as an exclusive venue for services, should they wish for more privacy during their visit. Wouldn't this be a fun place to have a girls' day out with your mom, sisters or BFFs? :)
For those looking for a full day of relaxation, the fully-equipped massage room also located on the second floor provides the perfect retreat. The massage room has its own shower and even a Jacuzzi fitted with a mini TV. I wouldn't mind spending the whole day here for sure! ;p
You can also tell how the salon equipment is all top of the line. Check out their foot spa chair, with back massager and a built in tub.
Even their shampoo chairs look so luxurious!
The salon only uses MAC makeup and Cuccio, an organic nail polish, so you know that you are getting only the best in quality when you avail of their services. And, with over 43 years of collective experience among their senior stylists, you are definitely in good hands at Fringe. You might think that their prices would be steep but it is surprisingly very affordable considering the amenities they provide!
Like I said, I couldn't wait to get my hair done since it was really a hot mess already. Just a little kwento, I was dying to get my hair colored the whole time I was pregnant but chose to wait until after I gave birth just to be on the safe side. I gave birth in January and was finally able to go to a salon last March. The salon was new and I had high hopes since it was owned by a celebrity hairstylist. I showed them a picture of the shade I wanted and told them I even wanted it lighter than the previous color I had. However, I was disappointed after since it seemed my hair even became darker! They told me it would get lighter eventually but I was really frustrated since I paid a lot of money and didn't even get the hair color I wanted (not even close). So this salon trip to Fringe came at the right time since I was really planning on coloring my hair again!
My hair was first analyzed to check its current state and growth from previous dye job. I'm currently having a LOT of hair fall post-pregnancy too, so I told them not to panic if they see clumps of hair falling out haha!
I was given a haircut before the color. I asked them to chop off about 2 inches (basically the damaged ends) but told my stylist Rodel I still wanted to keep it long. He gave me a layered cut to frame my face which you'll see later.
Then, it was time for the color! According to Rodel, they used Davines on my hair. I was honestly really nervous since I hoped the color would be right this time...
When they were blow drying my hair after, I was secretly doing a happy dance inside since I could already see that my hair was definitely a lighter shade of brown!
And here's the finished color. It's a bit lighter on top than at the bottom since they also did a reverse ombre effect.
Check out the huge difference before and after! I love it because I really want the color to be obvious even when indoors and not just when I go out under the sun. And I love my new layered look too! :)

Robots & Dolls: Salon for Kids and Teens
My kids have been long due for a haircut, especially since summer is fast approaching. We usually go to Cuts 4 Tots in Glorietta where Sabe actually got his first haircut and also his first barbers cut. But I've been wanting to go somewhere nearer our place and I'm so happy that I've discovered Robots & Dolls Salon, which is located in Pergola Mall, BF Paranaque.
This is probably the cutest kiddie salon I've seen so far, and also the biggest! I love how spacious, clean and bright the place is, with the modern design and pops of colors everywhere. This is even nicer than some of the parlors I've been to in the past hehe!
They ask you to fill a form if it's your first time and that automatically makes your child a member, so you can avail of discounts and freebies like free haircut on their birthday month. They also specify that they use all-natural and organic products, free from harmful chemicals and against animal testing. What I also love is that they have their own iPads to keep the kids busy. Check out Sabe being such a little bossing while getting his haircut! May tiga hawak pa ng milk tea haha! ;p
We were so worried that he wouldn't want to get a haircut at first since he got scared of the razor the last time. But he was so well-behaved, just sitting in his car chair, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the iPad. He didn't even flinch when the stylist started using the razor. It was over before we knew it and I couldn't be prouder of him. He's really a big boy na!
You could tell he loved his haircut too, since he was being all pa-cute after hehe! Short hair, don't care! ;p
Miley, on the other hand, had never gotten a haircut at a salon. It's usually just me who cuts her hair at home. I finally decided it was time for her to get it professionally done, especially since I wanted to cut it chin-length short.
This was Miley's first time to get a shampoo so she was tense at first since she hates getting water into her eyes when she takes a bath. The girl kept telling Miley to relax and I had to hold her hand for a bit, but she was enjoying it after a while :)
The kids and I had such a good experience here, especially Miley who also had her nails done which I'll be blogging about next! :)

Express Hair Studio in BF Paranaque
I've been neglecting my hair these past few months and if I remember correctly, the last time I went to the salon for a proper haircut was more than 6 months ago. In fact, I wear my hair in a ponytail most of the time and my bangs has grown out already. I finally decided to go to the parlor a month ago, right before all the festivities with my brother-in-law's wedding and our family vacation (kasi for sure madaming picture taking haha!).
There are so many salons in the BF Paranaque area, and one that I've been really curious about was Express Hair Studio, which is right beside the main guard house in Phase 1. The salon is kinda new (I believe it opened last year) and looks really nice and modern from the outside as well as the inside.
I've always thought it was expensive since it looked like a Korean/Japanese salon, but I got surprised when I inquired for the rates and found out their haircut prices (which includes shampoo & blowdry):
Japanese stylist - P390 (for girls), P280 (for guys)
Hair specialist (Filipino stylist) - P250 (for girls), P190 (for guys)
Plus, they always have some kind of promo going on, like 40% off digital perms, permanent blowouts, or nail services. But best to call them and see what promo they currently have since it changes regularly.
Anyway, I just wanted to have my bangs fixed and get some layers so I opted for the regular hair stylist. I figured, I'll just try the Japanese stylist when I want to do something major with my hair like chop it short.
I told the stylist I wanted to keep the length of my hair (if ever, just make it an inch shorter) and then more layers in front. He started snipping away and I honestly got so nervous after a while because there were so many hair falling on the ground already. But he reassured me that the back part was still long. After he was done, they blowdried my hair, then further curled it with a curling iron. I guess that's really part of their service being an Asian salon.
To be honest, I wasn't really feeling my hair after they curled it, since I felt it was so much shorter that what I had specified. Plus, I couldn't really tell how the layers looked. When I got home, I flat-ironed it quickly to see what it really looked like and this is the result. What do you think?
I honestly was not 100% happy at first, since I felt nasobrahan un layers and my hair got even thinner (I mean, compare it to the AFTER shot of my hair HERE). But then after a while, I figured it was a change from my normal style and besides, I really needed a haircut already. It definitely looked a lot better a few days after and now I can say I'm happy especially with how my bangs look hehe.
If you ask me, I'll still go back to Express Hair Studio to try their other services in the future like the hair color and maybe digiperm. :)

Scenes from the weekend
Finally, we were able to go out last Saturday after all the rains and floods had subsided. The first thing we did was go have our measurements taken for the upcoming wedding of my friend. I'm going to be a bridesmaid and Miley will be a flowergirl. Miley was so excited since she thought we were going to fit her dress already hehe. But I saw the designs and it looks adorable! I can't wait to show you our dresses when they're done! :)
Another thing I had been wanting to do for the longest time was to give Sabe a haircut. His bangs had grown so long they were always in his eyes already. I had considered cutting his hair myself but Hubby forbade me since it didn't go so well last time haha! Anyway, off we went to Cuts 4 Tots in Glorietta where he got his previous haircuts (here and here).
I was already pretty nervous going in since I knew he didn't have the best experience the last time, especially with the razor. And I was right since he immediately remembered the place and didn't want to go in! After all the coaxing with toys and videos, he still kept saying NO. So we just said we'll come back after he falls asleep...
Once he fell asleep, we raced back to the salon but once Yaya carried him, he immediately woke up! But the barber started talking to him and saying "we'll just comb your hair ok?" and before we knew it, the barber started cutting away already! Plus, it was a good thing they had a Cars 2 DVD because it kept Sabe distracted pretty much the whole time. We asked not to use the razor anymore since it would scare him and the whole haircut went smoothly. We were all breathing a sigh of relief after since Sabe was such a good boy! I think he won't be scared anymore for his future haircuts. :)
