Scenes from the weekend

Finally, we were able to go out last Saturday after all the rains and floods had subsided. The first thing we did was go have our measurements taken for the upcoming wedding of my friend. I'm going to be a bridesmaid and Miley will be a flowergirl. Miley was so excited since she thought we were going to fit her dress already hehe. But I saw the designs and it looks adorable! I can't wait to show you our dresses when they're done! :)

Another thing I had been wanting to do for the longest time was to give Sabe a haircut. His bangs had grown so long they were always in his eyes already. I had considered cutting his hair myself but Hubby forbade me since it didn't go so well last time haha! Anyway, off we went to Cuts 4 Tots in Glorietta where he got his previous haircuts (here and here).

I was already pretty nervous going in since I knew he didn't have the best experience the last time, especially with the razor. And I was right since he immediately remembered the place and didn't want to go in! After all the coaxing with toys and videos, he still kept saying NO. So we just said we'll come back after he falls asleep...

Once he fell asleep, we raced back to the salon but once Yaya carried him, he immediately woke up! But the barber started talking to him and saying "we'll just comb your hair ok?" and before we knew it, the barber started cutting away already! Plus, it was a good thing they had a Cars 2 DVD because it kept Sabe distracted pretty much the whole time. We asked not to use the razor anymore since it would scare him and the whole haircut went smoothly. We were all breathing a sigh of relief after since Sabe was such a good boy! I think he won't be scared anymore for his future haircuts. :)

Here's the BEFORE and AFTER look. And we all just love it!

Hope you're all enjoying the remainder of the long weekend as well! :)

Sabe gets his first barbers cut

After I cut Sabe's hair last month (which didn't exactly turn out that good ;p), hubby finally agreed that a trip to the salon was indeed in order. Sabe got his first haircut (a mohawk!) at Cuts for Tots in Glorietta and since I was happy with how that turned out, we went back there again.

at the play area... not knowing what's about to happen next LOL!
goodbye long hair!

Well, there were a few differences from last year. For one, their price has increased from P295 to P330. And if Sabe was behaved back then, well let's just say it was definitely more challenging this time! Anyway, they showed me a book with pictures of kids with different hairstyles to choose from. I chose a semi-barbers cut so that it wouldn't be that short.

Sabe refused to wear the salon cape, but at least he sat down on the car chair...
I ended up wearing the cape and carrying Sabe after a few minutes. The lady assistant was also blowing bubbles like last time as a distraction, but it didn't seem to be working...
So I asked them to play HI-5 since that was his favorite and it worked! Only problem was Sabe kept dancing haha!
I then whipped out the iPad which distracted him for a while, but then he really got mad when the scissors and razor got near his ears!

We were the first customers there and towards the end, Sabe was crying and shouting so much I think we scared the other children who were up next (the little boy after us was also crying because he didn't want the razor too!). We just decided to come back after Sabe fell asleep since one side was still uneven.

Always bring a change of clothes! We had hair all over us after.

Anyway, Sabe fell asleep after lunch and by that time there were already a lot of customers so we had to wait a bit to make "singit". What was funny is that Sabe instantly woke up again after a few snips. He then started crying and saying "BYE!" to the hairstylist! Awww poor thing, I think he's traumatized already. =( So we had to wait again for him to fall asleep a second time (which luckily was just a couple minutes) and then decided to just have them cut his hair while he was on the stroller (the first time kasi we carried him). And finally we were done!

Anyway, we totally love his hair now! We have to put some gel to style it and then he totally looks bad ass! Doesn't my little boy look all grown up now? =)

Kudos to the staff at Cuts for Tots since they deal with so many crying kids all the time and they still manage to whip up good hairstyles. The whole time we were there, we witnessed 3 other kicking and screaming kids (but I still think Sabe was the worst haha!). Anyway, the next time Sabe needs a haircut, we definitely have to wait til he's asleep again. Or maybe I'll just cut it myself. ;p

Sabe's 1st haircut at Cuts 4 Tots

Since Sabre already turned one, it was now time for him to get his 1st haircut! Well, he doesn't really have that much hair to begin with, but it could use some style. =)

We went to Cuts 4 Tots in Glorietta but Sabe was still in the middle of his nap when we arrived. After deliberating if we should cut his hair while he was sleeping or not (since we weren't sure if he would make a fuss), we just decided to come back when he woke up.

ready to ride his race car
putting on his salon cape
with the nervous and excited mom!

After deciding on the style, we were asked to pick a video for Sabe to watch while they were cutting his hair (we chose Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). But the video and race car were not enough to distract Sabe as he kept turning around and touching his head everytime the shaver went near it! Good thing the staff were prepared as they have all kinds of toys and gimmicks to keep the kids still. Sabe was finally entertained with... bubbles! I think the whole salon was filled with bubbles since Sabe didn't want the girl to stop blowing them haha!

About halfway through, he wanted to stand up already so I just carried him while they finished his haircut. Of course, the bubbles were still there to save the day!

Anyway, here is Sabe's hair BEFORE...

And here it is AFTER!

Introducing Mr. Shaolin Sabre, with his new mohawk!

The cut cost P295 and they were also offering a "baby's 1st haircut certificate" for an additional P195. This comes with a before and after photo and a lock of hair. I decided not to get the certificate (sorry kuripot talaga ;p) since I had a camera anyways. And besides, I was still able to get a lock of hair as a keepsake. They also offered a membership discount card that entitles members to a 10% discount on all kiddie services, valid for one year. Plus, they have products on sale too like anti-bug spray and styling gel for kids (this we bought hehe).

satisfied customer
lavet!!!

I'm so proud of Sabe for being so well behaved. I was kinda preparing myself for some kicking and screaming but he proved me wrong. Even the staff said he was such a good boy. And I just love his new hair, it really suits his personality! =)
