You are my Sunshine Blogger Award
Thank you Mrs. Panda for tagging me in the Sunshine Blogger Award. :)
So here goes! :)
11. I’m
a frustrated singer (mala-Anne Curtis lol!)
The Rules:
1. Post a picture of the
Sunshine Blogger Award.
2. Post 11 random facts
about yourself.
3. Answer 11 questions
from the nominating blogger.
4. Link back to the
blogger who nominated you.
5. Nominate 11 wonderful
bloggers that you feel bring sunshine to the blogging world.
6. Write 11 questions for your nominated bloggers.
6. Write 11 questions for your nominated bloggers.
So here goes! :)
11 Random Facts about ME:
1. I
hate heights. I have such an insane fear
of it that when I’m just watching TV and there’s a scene on top of a really
high building or mountain (especially bungee jumping!), my hands get all cold
and clammy!
2. I
never learned how to use chopsticks. Whenever we eat in a Chinese/ Japanese/Korean
resto, I always have to ask for a spoon & fork.
3. I
love reality shows. Local, international, name it, I’m probably watching it (or
at least know about it).
4. I
can’t swim.
5. I
love biting my nails.
6. My
all time favorite color is purple.
7. I
used to have really bad asthma when I was a kid, but thankfully outgrew it. But
what remained is my allergy to shrimps and cockroaches!
8. I
know how to play the piano. Growing up, every Saturday morning was spent having
piano lessons at home.
9. I
always wanted (and still hope!) to have twins – a boy and a girl.
10. I
used to be obsessed with the Mighty Ducks movies when I was a kid (I also had
the biggest crush on Joshua Jackson haha!). Me and my friends all had
roller-blades and one time I thought I could go down this steep road. I ended
up rolling downhill and got such a big wound on my left knee. There’s still a
scar there until now.
11 Questions from Mrs.
Panda:
1. Your
weirdest childhood dream? That I would
get married to Prince William. Now, my dream is for Miley to marry Prince
George haha!
2. Name
of your first pet. A Chihuahua named
Spike
3. Sesame
street or Batibot. Batibot! Too bad they
don’t have it na now, I’d love for my kids to watch it too.
4. French
fries with ketchup or mayo. Definitely
mayo! I also prefer to eat hotdogs or
burgers with mayo instead of ketchup.
5. What
is your best vacation/getaway idea? For
a quick vacation, we like going to the Laiya, Batangas area. Or just check
Agoda.com for good deals and low rates, even for a hotel staycation in the city.
6. Hot or
cold water. Shower: hot, Drink: cold
7. Light
shower at night? Yes or No? With this
heat, yes!
8. SUV or
Sedan? With 3 kids, we need an SUV. But
if I’m driving, I prefer a Sedan.
9. Describe
your 7th birthday. It was held at Manila
Polo Club and I remember there was a magician and I was wearing this poofy
dress.
10. Condo
or House and lot? why? Both haha! I
think if we didn’t have kids, I’d prefer a condo. But with our family, definitely
a house & lot. Although I’d still hope to be able to buy a condo someday...
11. Why
do you love to blog? Just want a place to
be able to share my DIY projects & also have a sort of virtual diary to
remember important events. I love being able to look back and be able to read
all about my kids’ milestones, family trips and all my other experiences.
11
Questions for my Nominated Bloggers:
1. Where is your dream travel
destination?
2. Favorite Disney character?

any instrument, what would it be?

can’t live without?
6. Who is your ultimate celebrity
crush?
7. What is your favorite childhood
memory?
8. Do you like your ice cream to be
in a cup or a cone?

Johnson's Baby Powder Play Factory Event
Last February 1, the whole family was invited to attend the Johnson's Baby Powder Play Factory event at Active Fun.
It was really a super fun family day where we learned that powdering can not only make your kid feel fresher but it can also lead to a fun bonding activity.
Gawing playtime ang powder time by doing arts & crafts using empty bottles of Johnson's Baby Powder, drawing letters or objects on your child's back, dancing while putting powder and so many more!
After the short program, we all headed to the gym for playtime. This was our first time ever in Active Fun so imagine how excited we all were! It was so much fun navigating and going up and down the different areas - the huge slide was especially their favorite (I was terrified to go down the first time haha!). Hubby and I were exhausted after a while, but the kids still wanted to play on and on and on... ;p
Thank you to Nuffnang and Johnson's Baby Powder for this wonderful bonding day with the family. After this, they have really changed the way we view playtime and powder time. :)

More features!
With Miley's 3rd birthday party being featured in Smart Parenting, I suddenly remembered that I have some other features before which I never got to post about. Better late than never right? ;p I know this isn't much compared to other bloggers, but I'm still so proud and kilig nonetheless. Thank you and I hope for more of these in the future. Keep 'em coming! :)

The week that was
Whew! Finally, I've found some time to blog again! :) This past week has been a really busy one for me. First, my 3-year old daughter Miley officially started school. But before that, we had a parents orientation where we were introduced to all the teachers and the rules & guidelines were discussed. Then, it was Miley's 1st day already! It was really such a milestone seeing her in her uniform and bag. :) I'm so glad we enrolled her in summer classes since she was such a trooper when we dropped her at school. Sanay na sanay na hehe! And it was so exciting picking her up and seeing if she had stamps on her hand (we're supposed to know how their performance for the day went if they had 2 stamps, 1 stamp, or no stamps). After getting 1 stamp only the first two days and then no stamps, finally Miley got 2 stamps yesterday! Yahoo! Gosh, I wish I could really sit in the classes to know what they do hehe! But anyway, I still can't believe my baby's all grown up already huhuhu! Pretty soon, I'll be dropping her off in high school na... ;p
Also, with hubby at work and my in-laws on a month long vacation abroad, I am now the official driver of my daughter to school!
I am so glad I finally learned to drive (after the 3rd try haha!). It's also a milestone for me since for the first time, hubby wasn't there with me in the car. It was just me, the kids and yaya. I was really nervous at first, especially since it was raining hard last Monday! But after a whole week of driving Miley to and from school, I feel like such a pro already! In fact, after picking her up from school yesterday, we even went to the grocery after. And I was able to park successfully woohoo! It feels really great to finally be able to go places without having to ask someone to drive me. I feel so independent haha! I still have to work on my parking skills though and also driving to farther areas like Makati. :)
Side kwento though, after doing the grocery yesterday, I bought medicine at the pharmacy. It was starting to rain again pretty hard so I was rushing to get home. Anyway, like I said, I was so happy with how the day went but after dinner, it suddenly dawned on me that I never got the medicines I bought! I don't know why, but after signing my credit card bill, I left to go to the parking already. And for some reason, the person at the pharmacy never handed me my package or even ran after me as I was waiting for the elevator! Haaay naku! Well, I called them up last night and yes, my medicines were still there. So excuse me while I go back to the grocery and pick them up. ;p

MrsMommyHolic is now 1 year old!
Happy 1st Anniversary to me and my blog! Wow, time really does fly. It only seems like yesterday when I decided to start this blog and publish my very first post.
A year ago, I knew that I wanted to write about my kids and my experiences as a mom/housewife so that I could have something to look back on. I didn't know if anyone would read my posts, but I was okay with that since I figured this blog was basically going to serve as my virtual diary. But then I started getting comments and emails from actual readers who had nothing but super nice things to say. Please know that you have done nothing but motivate and inspire me to love being a blogger mom more and more each day.
I want to take this time to thank everyone who has read my blog (and continues to do so I hope), especially those who have left encouraging and positive comments from time to time. Since it is almost the end of 2012, I hope and pray that my blog will continue to grow and improve this coming year. And I hope that you, my fabulous readers, will continue to support me as I write about more of my experiences, travel, home decorating, DIY projects and many many more! Cheers!

My new guilty pleasure
Is reading this blog STFU, Parents! STFU means Shut The F*** Up! and it's a blog where individuals (mostly annoyed friends of the parents) submit screen caps of people's TMI status messages or photos on Facebook. Basically, it makes fun of moms and dads who overshare about their kids on social networking sites.
It tackles different topics from Bathroom Behavior (poop, poop and more poop!) like this one:
...or Story Hour (where parents recount every single thing that happened in their day) like this one:
...or Sanctimommy (posts from self-righteous moms):
...or my favorite, MommyJacking (commenting on someone's status message by relating it to motherhood or baby - when the status is completely a different topic altogether!) like this:
The blog is terribly addicting (some posts are just laugh out loud insane and unbelievable!). What makes it even more funny are the comments under the statuses plus the commentary of the blog founder after every post. She's so sarcastic I love it!
Now as a mom, I myself am guilty of the occasional status message and photo albums dedicated to my kids' milestones in life. I even have the monthly birthdays album (teehee! ;p). Of course once you become a parent, you can't help but want to share to the world (aka Facebook and other social media) what your baby has been up to! You're proud, that's all. But of course, other people might not find your updates about your pregnancy or baby cute or funny. I myself have rolled my eyes or shook my head at some status messages I've seen on my news feed. Let the examples above and others more on the STFU blog be an example of what NOT to post on FB about pregnancies, childbirth experiences and kid’s lives.
So the next time you post a photo or an update about being preggers, or how busy your day was taking care of the kids, or something new your baby did... think twice. You may end up on STFU, Parents! hahaha! ;p

Hello!
Hmmm… that doesn’t really sound like a groundbreaking way to start a blog. How do you start one anyway? Well, let me just tell you WHY… as a wife and mother, I sometimes feel like the days just pass by too quickly (wait, what day is it now anyways?!). So, this blog will serve as a break from my hectic schedule (feeding, changing diapers, watching cartoons…) A little “ME” time of sorts where I can share my thoughts (before I go insane!), my experiences (lots of firsts!), and anything and everything in between.
Join me as I write about my new life as a housewife and stay at home mom, our move to our first home, and my 2 wonderful babies.
