Staycation at Manila Hotel

I was looking to book an overnight staycation for hubby's birthday last month and chanced upon this Facebook offer for Manila Hotel. It was one of those sponsored ads and you just had to click the "Get Offer" button and this will be emailed to you:

I haven't been to the Manila Hotel in years so I was curious what the place looked like now. I think the last time I stayed here was about 10 years ago? And the offer was inclusive of buffet breakfast for 2 which was a huge plus.

Anyway, I emailed them my preferred date and they got back to me asking for the guest name, bed preferences (king size bed or two single beds) and also credit card details to guarantee the booking. I just called their landline to give my credit card details and they emailed me my confirmation letter after a few minutes. I also asked about early check-in and it was at 12noon subject to room availability.

On the day itself, we arrived at the hotel at about 1pm. And all our bags were scanned through an x-ray machine at the entrance.

the lobby still looks the same from what I remember all those years ago

Check-in was a breeze and we were immediately escorted to our room. I was happy with how spacious it was. And the room looked new in fairness! I was half expecting everything to be really ancient haha, They also had fast wi-fi access btw. :)

huge TV
magazines
seating areas
love these sliding doors on the windows
here's our view - you can see the pool area on the lower left

But the best part was probably the bathroom - because there was a TV! The kids were so excited they ended up hugging each other out of sheer happiness haha! And for the first time, hubby and I could actually watch our shows on the big TV since the kids preferred to stay in the bathroom to watch cartoons lol! ;p

separate walk-in rain shower

Anyway, the kids didn't want to take a nap so we decided to swim at around 3pm.

elevator areas

I guess everybody was still in their rooms since we had the pool practically to ourselves! Good thing it was cloudy too so it was great weather for a swim. And the water temperature was perfectly warm, probably from the summer heat.

kiddie pool area is the one on the right
more lounge seats overlooking the pool where you can also have a nice view of the sunset
deep part of the pool
more seating areas
kiddie area - love the mini fountains
pool bar

It was happy hour (buy 1 take 1) so hubby had a few beers and I got mojitos. We also ordered fries. I loved the bar area with stools in the water so you can actually sit in the pool while having your drink.

After our swim, we asked if it was ok to have food delivered for dinner and it was no problem. We just ordered from Shakey's and we were given a call when it arrived so we can pick it up from the lobby.

sunset view from our room

I also asked earlier in the day when I checked-in if they had special promos for birthday celebrants. The receptionist said none, but then a cake was delivered to our room when we were swimming. Only problem was, it said HAPPY ANNIVERSARY haha! Not listening si receptionist, toink! But it was ok, hubby was still happy. It's the thought that counts naman. :)

Happy birthday my love!

It was a great staycation and we honestly didn't want to leave. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the hotel looked, from the rooms to the pool area. The kids said this was now their favorite hotel haha! So for sure we will definitely be back! :)

I'll be posting about our breakfast at Cafe Ilang-Ilang next. :)

  1. Hello, Manila Hotel is really beautiful. Anyway, I'm looking for a list of Mandaluyong Hotels when I found your post. Do you have any recommendations? By the way! I enjoyed reading your post and get pleased to try the Manila Hotel. More Power!
