My Uniwide shopping loot

Here's what I got during my latest trip to Uniwide:

I am slightly obsessed with owls so I just had to add these to my collection.
P49 each

More ceramic trinkets which I couldn't resist. You can put a candle inside the blue owl so it lights up from the inside. The horse I just found really cute. And remember this post about how I wanted to update my yellow ceramic stool which I also got from Uniwide? This miniature stool with its Chinoiserie-style pattern looks just like the DIY version!
blue owl - P39, horse - P12, mini stool - P49

I was so happy when I saw these brass letters since I had bought the exact same ones before but Sabe broke it! And as luck would have it, they only had 5 letters available which included V and H (hubby & my initials)
P29 per letter

I also couldn't resist getting this Stormtrooper piggybank purely for the design. I just thought it looked super quirky and cute.
P29

More assorted ceramic balls.
price ranges from P19 upwards depending on size

I also love buying plates for the kids in Uniwide. These melamine ones come in different designs. Some are sold per piece while others you can get per kilo. You really have to sort through the stacks and check for imperfections and damages. Also, some designs are limited to just 1 piece.
P15 each

I had to get these action figures for my son since he's currently obsessed with superheroes. He's only 2 years old so he's not one to complain even if the only Ironman they had was color green haha! And besides, I don't have to feel bad if he breaks or loses them since they're so cheap anyways. We can invest on the expensive toys later on when he gets older. :)
Ironman - P99, Batman - P59, Superman - P59
Batman Shoot Playset - P159, Batman mask & toy - P99

This make-up set is for my kikay Miley :)
P129

And lastly, these foam toy swords will be making an appearance for Halloween very soon... ;p
about P20 for both

All in all, my total bill was just over P1000! Next time, I'll also share my favorite buys from the Uniwide Coastal Mall branch, since like I said, it's bigger and has more items than the Sucat branch. :)

Shopping at Uniwide

One of my happy shopping places is the Uniwide Sales Warehouse Club, which I discovered about 2 years ago. So I was so surprised when I read on Mommy Maqui's blog a few months ago that they were closing! NOOOOO!

I used to go to the Coastal Mall branch back when we were still living with my mom but now, the Sucat branch is much closer to where we stay. I've since passed it a couple of times since I read the news and thankfully it still looked open. So finally, I found time to check it out a few days ago. :)

This was my first time to visit the Sucat branch and it is definitely much smaller than the Coastal Mall one. Although everything looks and feels the same (still dusty and hot!), you will definitely find more choices in Coastal Mall. But still, that didn't stop me from going gaga over all the cheap and fab finds! Just seeing all those red and yellow signs screaming SALE made my heart pound 100x faster haha! ;p

With Christmas just around the corner, you'll find lots of decors, trinkets and ornaments up for grabs.

My 2 year-old son Sabe is obssessed with superheroes and they have all these action figures on sale. Of course, don't expect the same quality as something from Toy Kingdom (for example, Superman's face looked weird and Ironman was color green haha!). Although there were also some that looked great (like the Batman and Spiderman toys) which I bought for Christmas gifts.

There's also lots of toys for little girls...

I LOVE these owl ceramics! I've actually seen some of them being sold in the mall for more than double the price.

Cute ceramic piggybanks that you can also use for display...

Ceramic balls...

Assorted ceramic and melamine products which you can buy per kilo.

Assorted wine glasses...

More ceramic products...

jars
containers for herbs and spices
vases
cups and mugs
salt & pepper shakers
oriental style vases and jars

I like buying these plastic plates in assorted designs for the kids, but they had very limited choices on hand. In the Coastal Mall branch, they had hundreds to choose from.

More decorative items for the home in metal finish...

Faux flowers as well...

And to complete your Christmas shopping, you can also buy these assorted paper bags for gift wrapping at just P150 per kilo!

Well, I don't know if Uniwide will still be closing anytime soon but I just hope that this shopping haven is here to stay forever!

Just a few reminders:
- Wear something cool and comfortable since there's no aircon. I was sweating so much within 5 minutes of entering the place! You can also bring a fan or a small towel to wipe your face or back.
- Bring baby wipes / tissue / alcohol to wipe your hands since everything's so dusty (I was sneezing so much too!) My fingers were so black after holding the merchandise.
- Check all the items you buy carefully since there might be defects or cracks, especially the ceramic items.
- You can use your credit card to pay so no worries if you didn't bring enough cash (although with everything so cheap, you can buy so much with just P500!)

Can't wait to share what I bought next! Stay tuned. ;p

Express Hair Studio in BF Paranaque

I've been neglecting my hair these past few months and if I remember correctly, the last time I went to the salon for a proper haircut was more than 6 months ago. In fact, I wear my hair in a ponytail most of the time and my bangs has grown out already. I finally decided to go to the parlor a month ago, right before all the festivities with my brother-in-law's wedding and our family vacation (kasi for sure madaming picture taking haha!).

There are so many salons in the BF Paranaque area, and one that I've been really curious about was Express Hair Studio, which is right beside the main guard house in Phase 1. The salon is kinda new (I believe it opened last year) and looks really nice and modern from the outside as well as the inside.

I've always thought it was expensive since it looked like a Korean/Japanese salon, but I got surprised when I inquired for the rates and found out their haircut prices (which includes shampoo & blowdry):

Japanese stylist - P390 (for girls), P280 (for guys)
Hair specialist (Filipino stylist) - P250 (for girls), P190 (for guys)

Plus, they always have some kind of promo going on, like 40% off digital perms, permanent blowouts, or nail services. But best to call them and see what promo they currently have since it changes regularly.

Anyway, I just wanted to have my bangs fixed and get some layers so I opted for the regular hair stylist. I figured, I'll just try the Japanese stylist when I want to do something major with my hair like chop it short.

I told the stylist I wanted to keep the length of my hair (if ever, just make it an inch shorter) and then more layers in front. He started snipping away and I honestly got so nervous after a while because there were so many hair falling on the ground already. But he reassured me that the back part was still long. After he was done, they blowdried my hair, then further curled it with a curling iron. I guess that's really part of their service being an Asian salon.

To be honest, I wasn't really feeling my hair after they curled it, since I felt it was so much shorter that what I had specified. Plus, I couldn't really tell how the layers looked. When I got home, I flat-ironed it quickly to see what it really looked like and this is the result. What do you think?

I honestly was not 100% happy at first, since I felt nasobrahan un layers and my hair got even thinner (I mean, compare it to the AFTER shot of my hair HERE). But then after a while, I figured it was a change from my normal style and besides, I really needed a haircut already. It definitely looked a lot better a few days after and now I can say I'm happy especially with how my bangs look hehe.

If you ask me, I'll still go back to Express Hair Studio to try their other services in the future like the hair color and maybe digiperm. :)
