SAMBOKOJIN Yakiniku Smokeless Grill

Hubby and I were in SM Southmall and was all set to eat in Yabu for lunch. But when we got there, we noticed that SamboKojin was right next to it... After a bit of contemplating, the buffet won! I mean, we were originally craving for tonkatsu, but we could eat that plus a whole lot more for about the same price at SamboKojin. ;p

SamboKojin offers a wide array of Japanese and Korean specialties. And the best part, grill and eat all you can!

sushi selection
premium meat
fresh seafood
kimchi and more

Their katsu offerings were so good! I'm so glad we decided to ditch Yabu and eat here instead haha! They even have the same sauce. :)

And my absolute favorite, their kamameshi rice! I ate 2 bowls all by myself! Yummy! :)

my date
always leave room for dessert

Hubby and I were so full after our meal we could barely walk lol! They also had the free birthday buffet promo so we ate here again on hubby's birthday a week later. ;p Definitely our new favorite buffet place.

Aside from SM Southmall, SamboKojin also has branches in Eastwood, EDSA, and West Avenue. Check out their website for more details.

Guest Room REVEAL!

First of all, I just want to say that I have so much stuff to blog about but I can't seem to find the time lately! So sorry if there seems to be a long period between my posts, I just have a lot of things on my plate these days. :)

But the good news is, I was finally able to take pics of my son's room to share with you guys. YEY! ;p  In my previous post, I blogged about how the daybed I bought didn't quite work out in the space and luckily, I was able to return it and get some new furniture.

BEFORE

If you remember, I got a new bed, side tables, a desk, and some lamps. And after everything was delivered, it took me less than half an hour to fix everything up. That's how I knew I made the right decision! Anyway, here's how the room looks like now:

AFTER

Doesn't it look so much better? I know I had a peg of how I wanted my son's room to look like (see my post HERE on some of my inspirations) which I so did NOT follow. But since I just had to make do of what I had lying around the house (bedsheet, pillows, rug, accessories), this will have to do for now. ;p And since he won't be staying here until a couple more years, this is now officially our guest room. I'll just have to revamp it before he turns 5 or something hehe! I initially wanted all white furniture but now I'm in love with all the dark wood. And it looks more fit for a boy's room right?

These 2 lamps and the small cactus plant are also from Mandaue Foam. I love how the lamps aren't the same but they still work together. :)

Love how all the prints and patterns mix and match. And finally I have a spot for this antique rocking chair! I was supposed to paint it a bright color before but I'm glad I left it alone... for now. ;p

I love how the desk hides the aircon underneath...

Some accessories which I grabbed from other parts of the house...

S is for SABRE!

But wait! If you think the room is done, think again. Check out the opposite side of the bed hehe! Still have to buy a shoe rack or dresser, and put a TV on the wall...

But overall, I am so happy with the way the space turned out. This is now my favorite room in our house! :) Anyway, I still have lots of ideas which I want to do here, like painting the wall behind the bed (chevron or a nice pop of color), putting some frames, etc. I just need the TIME! ;p

The return of the daybed

Ok, remember my post about how I dragged hubby to Mandaue Foam during their sale so I could buy a bed for my son's room? And I ended up buying this daybed below which I was completely excited about?

Nicole Captain Bed

Weeeeell, it didn't quite work out... I think it all started with the delay in delivery. I definitely think the universe was kinda giving me signals already. First of all, it took more than 2 weeks and it didn't arrive on the day they said it was going to be delivered. After waiting all day, I finally called and it turns out that they had to replace the bed that arrived in the store since there were some defects daw. Ok fine. After it was finally delivered, there were some missing parts so they couldn't install the cabinets on the lower part of the bed.

I also noticed that there were some paint chips. The delivery guys said they didn't have the materials to retouch it, so they would just fix it when they returned with the missing parts.

Well, after talking to the store salesman and expressing my dissatisfaction, I learned that it would take them at least another week to get the parts (since it would be coming all the way from Cebu daw). I think that's what started me thinking and analyzing this purchase. I mean, if they had delivered a perfect bed, complete parts and all, I think the story would have been different. But having this bed sit in the room just heightened my unhappiness with it. The bed is completely gorgeous don't get me wrong. But there was just a nagging feeling inside of me that it wasn't the ONE once I saw it in the space (Now I know why interior designers come in handy. They save you from making mistakes like I did!).

For one, it seemed too big for the room. I know I took measurements and all, but once it was there, I began to see the faults in the would be layout. I couldn't even fit a bedside table in there. And it was so cramped when you entered the room and the door would almost hit the bed.

Second, the pull-out didn't work smoothly. It kept jamming everytime we would push it back under. According to the delivery guys, it was really the design of the bed that caused it to be this way. Third, it now seemed like a girly bed the more I looked at it (doesn't it?). I just wasn't sure how my son would feel about it once he grew older lol! Lastly, my mom saw the position of the bed and warned me against bad feng shui. Apparently it's bad to have the bed aligned with the door.

according to feng shui, the bed facing the door is a strict no-no since it is said to be the "death position" YIKES!

Hubby wanted to just move the position of the bed, but I felt it would still overwhelm the space because of the height (it was higher than a normal bed kasi). So after sleepless nights, soul searching, inner conversations, a huge meltdown with hubby (yes, drama queen ang peg), I decided to just change the bed. Thank God that Mandaue Foam had a returns policy within 7 days. I just called the salesperson who assisted me and arranged to come in the store and choose what furniture to replace it with. The good news was that I had P15,200 to spend on whatever I wanted. Downside was that it wasn't sale anymore and I had to pay the delivery fee again.

I knew I wanted a white bed but everything they had was in wood. We finally decided to get this one which cost P4,900. (the pull-out mechanism underneath is not included, that's a separate P3,500).

We still had about P10k to spend so we decided to just get side tables and a desk so we could basically have the whole room furnished already.

this desk seemed like a good size for the room and it was only P1,400
We got these side tables for our own room since they're bigger than what we currently have. Our old ones would be moved to Sabe's room.

We had a few thousands left over so we just bought 2 lamps and a cactus plant. In the end, I was over P90 and had to pay an additional P500 for the new delivery fee. Well, a small price to pay for the sake of my happiness hahaha! ;p

We went to Mandaue on Saturday and the new stuff came right on time on Monday! Good vibes already. I swear, everything came into place layout-wise that I was able to decorate and set up the space in about 30 minutes. I love how the room turned out and I can't wait to share it with you in the coming post! Stay tuned! ;p

The SM Store: Style & More

You all know how much I love SM from my previous posts. I especially love their 3-day sales wherein I really prepare and strategize to buy everything within the 2-hour time frame for the additional 10% discount (yes, career!). Well, ever since I became a mom and housewife, I've been leaning more towards buying stuff for my kids (see here) and of course, for our home (see here). But this blog isn't called MrsMommyHOLIC for nothing. Of course, I still can't resist indulging the fashionista in me and shopping for myself! ;p

I really love that the SM Store offers all the trendiest finds at such affordable prices. When dressing up, I tend to gravitate towards prints, patterns, and loud colors. I've always felt that buying designer brands isn't really practical for looks that go in and out of style so quickly. So I've always trusted SM to carry all the latest in fashion without having to feel guilty about splurging.

Case in point, I've been obsessed with the tribal/aztec trend for a while now and I've found the perfect prints to jazz up my wardrobe.

And although I have been known to go a little shoe crazy at times, I find that the most used pairs I have are these sandals from Solemate (black) and Parisian (brown).

love the embroidery and beadwork details on my Parisian sandals
these black sandals go with everything

And of course, flats are a staple in every girl's shoe collection, and their "2 pairs for P399" promo is such a steal. I think this is one of SM's most popular sections because there's always so many people trying on flats in every color whenever I pass by. Here's what I have so far... and these probably won't be the last. ;p

I also love buying outfits there which I use for special occasions, like attending weddings. I have to be honest and say that I usually wear those outfits once because everybody's already seen you in pictures haha! And I love it when I find something great, especially on sale. Like this orange skirt I got for just P500! People were impressed when they found out where I got it and how much it was. ;p

See, you don't have to break your bank account to look & feel great. Just shop at SM! ;p And don't forget to check out The SM Store's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/TheSMStore) for promos and updates.
