Sabe’s All-Star 1st birthday party: Supplier Ratings (part 1)

Finally here it is! My supplier ratings for Sabe’s party. As I mentioned in my posts before, I chose the sports theme since it isn’t as common as the other themes I’ve been seeing in boys parties like circus or safari. Plus I knew it would be easy to buy prizes, giveaways, and decors to fit the theme. We were also more budget conscious for this party as compared to Miley’s last year. We invited just the right amount of people and really thought about what we needed or just wanted for the party. I guess being in tipid mode really forced me to be more creative so I did a lot of DIY stuff too. It was time consuming but very fulfilling once you see the finished product. I also chose completely different suppliers for Sabe’s party as compared to Miley’s so that I could compare and try something new as well. Anyway, I’ll just go into more detail with each supplier below. Rating scale: 1 - lowest, 5 - highest.

Venue / Caterer: THE METROPOLITAN CLUB
Rating: 5

Makati is always our choice for an event venue since we want something in the middle that our friends and family can easily get to. We’ve been to several events in Metroclub already since Vins’ tita is a member there and we’ve always found it accessible, spacious, classy and with ample parking space. What I liked about the place is that there’s no venue rental fee. You just pay for the buffet package plus corkage for food carts, additional food, etc.

We got the cheapest merienda cena buffet package at P395 / pax:
- MINI CHICKEN BARBEQUE
- SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE
- LUMPIANG SHANGHAI
- HAWAIIAN POTATO SALAD
- ASSORTED SWEETS AND PASTRIES
- SOFTDRINKS

The food was really good, especially the chicken barbeque and potato salad. What I liked about a venue like Metroclub is that you can be sure the food is good plus all the set-up requirements are there already. I didn’t have to worry about the sound system, extra tables, etc. Ms. Gie, our contact person, was very accommodating. All the waiters and staff during the party were also so helpful.

Decors: PARTYBOOSTERS
Rating: 5

I was considering other party decorators but what sold me to get Jacque Tan was her BOOSTER PACKAGE which consisted of the following:
- PAIR OF PILLARS FOR THE STAGE
- ENTRANCE ARCH
- 10 MYLAR CENTERPIECES
- CAKE ARCH
- 18IN BALLOON BURST
- 200 CEILING BALLOONS
- 3 PANELS OF SWAGS, 3 COLORS

I knew I didn’t need a styro backdrop since the ceiling of Metroclub is not that high, so the swags and ceiling balloons would already fill the place up. I got to the venue really early and everything was set up already. The table centerpieces were supposed to be mylar balloons but the ones she ordered were out of stock. So she used actual balls instead which worked out better since the kids (and even adults) eagerly took them home. I was very happy with the set-up and all the colors used which matched the moodboard I sent her perfectly. Overall, this was a very hassle free transaction since Jacque was always very quick in answering emails.

Backdrop: THE GARDEN WEDDING CO.
Rating: 5

My friend owns The Garden Wedding Co. which rents out decors, ornaments & furnishings to make any event look like you’re in (where else) a garden!  I’m lucky enough that she lent me her grass wall hedge which I used as the stage backdrop. I made the letters out of styrofoam (check out how I did it HERE) and just stuck it on the wall using barbeque sticks.

Looking back, I totally wish I had asked Metroclub to remove the carpet they used on the stage. It does NOT go with the décor at all! Mukhang magic carpet haha! ;p

We had a mix up with the size though since I got 2 big hedges but when they delivered it, it was unfortunately too tall for the venue. So we just used 1 of the hedges and turned it on its side. Since the height of the wall was now smaller, the letters had to be placed lower which wasn't how I had envisioned it. But hey, for a free beautiful grass wall, I’m not complaining!

P.S. - Please do check out her site if you're interested in tiffany chairs, birdbaths, urns & pedestals, garden fixtures, candelabras, astroturf, grass carpet & hedges, and many more! =)

Cake: SHORTCRUST BY PEACHY JUBAN
Rating: 5

Peachy is my cousin so all our cakes our done by her. I just sent her a moodboard of colors and elements and she came up with this gorgeous design all on her own.

Now, I mentioned this in my previous post that the candle blowing was done at the end of the program so no one got to eat the cake since people started leaving already. So next time, I’m seriously considering just getting a styrofoam cake for decoration purposes only haha!

to be continued...

    1. You can try calling Metropolitan Club at 896-0205. You can also try North Forbes Park Pavilion for another venue option in Makati. You can search my previous post on my daughter's 1st birthday party which was held there :)

    1. They don't have venue fee, so the cost depends on the number of your guests. Our food package was 395 per person (merienda cena buffet). There's corkage fee rin of 700 per food cart if you're planning to have those. :)
