Tokyo Travel Diaries: Ginza

Whew, it has been a whirlwind past couple of days and it's not slowing down anytime soon. Some of our friends got married so we had lots of reunions and get-togethers to attend. Add to that the kids' school activities, which is also a bit hectic especially since my daughter is graduating from preschool! Then, we have a couple of travels lined up this month too. Anyway, I'm back to blogging about our Japan trip and this time, we're going to Ginza!

Ginza is Tokyo's famous upmarket shopping, dining and entertainment district, featuring numerous department stores, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, night clubs and cafes.

We really timed our visit on a weekend since they close the central Chuo Dori street to automobile traffic and it becomes a large pedestrian zone. The road closure takes place from 12noon to 5pm (until 6pm from April through September).

We also had lunch at Sapporo Beer-Hall because hubby wanted to drink (what's new? haha!). But I finally got to try Japanese curry which was so good!

Anyway, it was just so fun to walk in the middle of the road where they also set up these benches with umbrellas. Sarap tumambay! :)

Unless you're going to do some shopping, there really isn't much to see in Ginza for me. So if you're going here, make sure to visit during the weekend so you can catch the road closure which is really a great experience. :)

Get There and Around

The most convenient stations for accessing the Ginza district are Ginza Station on the Hibiya, Marunouchi and Ginza Subway Lines and Yurakucho Station on the JR Yamanote Line, JR Keihin-Tohoku Line and Yurakucho Subway Line.
