The Tides Hotel, Boracay

For our trip to Boracay last month, I originally wanted to book at Discovery Shores since we were going to be with the kids (plus I haven't stayed there pa lol). But after checking the rates, I had to reconsider since I was sure there were other good hotels that were more affordable. We checked Agoda and we chanced upon a flash sale for The Tides Hotel.

Trivia, this was the hotel hubby and his parents stayed in when he proposed to me way back in 2008! So I guess this place kinda has a special place in our hearts haha. :)

Anyway, we also availed of their roundtrip transfers to and from the airport which included land, boat, environmental and terminal fees. Rate was P1,000.00 per person via Caticlan and P1,200.00 per person via Kalibo. For kids 3-10 years old, fee is P500.00 per child, while 2 years old below is free of charge.

This was really a must especially when traveling with kids since we didn't want to be hassled anymore once we got to the island. Once we landed in Caticlan, a staff from the hotel was already with us helping us with our bags the whole way. The van ride was also very comfortable since it was just us inside.

My in-laws who came in from Kalibo had a problem with the bus though. They were advised to look for Southwest Bus outside the airport, but the driver didn't want to let them on at first because they had to confirm with the hotel pa daw (but they couldn't contact them naman). Good thing I gave them a copy of the hotel voucher which made things easier since naniwala na daw si bus driver. Once they got to Caticlan, it was smooth sailing na since the staff of The Tides was there to assist them personally na.

Me, hubby and the kids got the the hotel at around 9:00am and good thing they allowed us to check-in early right away. Especially since we were all so TIRED from being awake since 3am for our 6am flight lol! We got an Exceptional Queen room, which came with 2 queen beds and also included breakfast, for just P5k a night.

I just had a confusion with maximum occupancy though since I assumed that since the room had 2 queen sized beds, 4 people could occupy the room. Turns out, 2 adults lang pala and there was a fee for extra guests! So since it was my in-laws plus my brother-in-law and his girlfriend in one room, they had to pay P1,000 per extra person per night pa (to also avail of the daily breakfast too). Well, even after all the extra charges, it was still cheaper that staying at Discovery Shores lol! Our total for both rooms would have been equal to their cheapest room lang hehe. ;p

I like how the sink, toilet, and shower were in separate areas so more people could do their own business in peace ;p

The floating bathtub had a rainfall shower head which wasn't so convenient if you have kids though.

What I also liked about The Tides was the location. It was inside D'Mall in Station 2 where all the action was. The moment you go outside, you're just a few steps away from all the restaurants and shops. We originally wanted to stay in Station 1 where it was quieter and had less people. But I think The Tides was perfect since it made it easier for us to leave the kids in the room while we ate at a nearby restaurant. They would just want to stay in the room anyways especially at night, so it was so convenient for us to just buy food downstairs for our yaya and the kids. And if the kids wanted to join us, it was so easy to bring them back to the room once they got tired or bored.

It was also just a few steps away from the beach, which of course was so important. The hotel also gave the kids beach toys as welcome gifts when we arrived. I already brought some of their toys like shovels though, but it was a good thing since we were supposed to buy a pail for them. :)

It was also important for us to stay in a hotel with a pool. The Tides had a roof deck pool which was nice since it was very private. There was no kiddie area though, the shallow part was just where the steps were.

We also love their roof deck lounge area. Hubby loved hanging out here at night. We were given coupons for free cocktails too.

We also enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Lots of choices and variety everyday. And super sarap ng bacon nila ha! Plus their hot chocolate too. :)

We were really happy with our overall experience here, and I'd love to stay here again when we go back in the future. :)
