A lovely time at Stanley, Hong Kong

I've been to Hong Kong a few times before and we would always go to the usual spots for shopping and eating. Standard areas would be Tsim Tsa Tsui, Nathan Road, and the night market in Mongkok. But for some reason, I haven't been to the Stanley area at all despite reading about it when I'd do research on what to do in Hong Kong. Luckily, my friends haven't been here as well so we all jumped at the suggestion to check out the place during our trip.

We took a bus from the city which cost HK$10.60 (one way). The trip took about 30-40 minutes but the views were really nice especially as you move farther away from the city. You would see the ocean, cliffs, and properties you could tell were really expensive hehe! I guess this is where the rich people of Hong Kong stay. ;p

We got off at Stanley Village and walked a short distance down this street to get to the market.

The Stanley Market is an array of small shops and street stalls.

There were a lot of nice items, but we didn't really want to buy a lot since we were still headed to the night market later on. And the stuff at Mongkok was definitely cheaper especially if you know how to bargain. ;p

I was pleasantly surprised when we reached the Stanley Promenade since it is very different from what you would usually expect in Hong Kong. The vibe was very relaxed compared to the hustle and bustle in the city.

We ate at this Italian place called Paisano's and they served the biggest slices of pizza! One slice was bigger than your face haha! ;p

This is the Stanley Waterfront Mart with more food stalls facing the water. I guess cheaper to eat here than in the restaurants along the main street.

I definitely loved Stanley and highly recommend it on your next trip to Hong Kong if you haven't been before like me. It's the perfect place if you want to escape the busy streets of Hong Kong even for a few hours. I especially think this would be a great area for kids since they can run along the promenade and see the nice views of the water. And don't forget the different restaurants you could try plus shopping too (aside from the market, there's an H&M located at Murray House!).
