The death of my powder foundation

This happened last night...

I guess it was my fault too, for leaving my make-up kit where Miley could reach it. But I was pretty sure I had it zipped up (of course how could I forget that Miley can now unzip things?). Anyway, it happened in a nanosecond. Suddenly Miley was holding the make-up kit upside down and shaking it so the stuff inside all fell down to the floor. I knew the foundation was smashed even before I opened the compact. My blush was slightly damaged as well.

Ok, you might think I'm making a big deal out of this but let me explain. I'm not really a make-up kind of person. I have probably 5 items in my kikay kit - my concealer, powder foundation, blush, eyebrow brush, and lipstick. I don't stock up on different types of designer labels or have expensive brushes. I'll just buy once I've completely used up something and then I'll usually wait until there's a sale. Plus, I don't really care about the brand as long as its cheap.

Anyway, my insightful husband once told me that its ok to spend on make-up since I use it most of the time, not like clothes which usually just gets stuck in the back of my closet. His analogy was that he spends a fortune on the right brand of shoes since cheap, fake ones could damage his feet. So by using whatever type of make-up on my face, I could just end up irritating my skin. Hmmm, he had a point. So off I went and bought my first Shu Uemura powder foundation. Yes it was very pricey by my standards but the quality was indeed great.

So you can just imagine how dismayed I was that this happened! Makes me want to buy cheap make-up all over again so that I won't be depressed if I lose or break it. Anyway, Miley must have felt that I was kind of upset because she was being so sweet to me. When her dad called her to go to the other room, she kept tugging at my dress saying "come on mommy, let's go" Awww, how could I stay mad at that? =)

Well, I can still use the powder anyway. Moral of the story, keep your make-up out of reach of children if you don't want them to play with it!

Sabe's 1st haircut at Cuts 4 Tots

Since Sabre already turned one, it was now time for him to get his 1st haircut! Well, he doesn't really have that much hair to begin with, but it could use some style. =)

We went to Cuts 4 Tots in Glorietta but Sabe was still in the middle of his nap when we arrived. After deliberating if we should cut his hair while he was sleeping or not (since we weren't sure if he would make a fuss), we just decided to come back when he woke up.

ready to ride his race car
putting on his salon cape
with the nervous and excited mom!

After deciding on the style, we were asked to pick a video for Sabe to watch while they were cutting his hair (we chose Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). But the video and race car were not enough to distract Sabe as he kept turning around and touching his head everytime the shaver went near it! Good thing the staff were prepared as they have all kinds of toys and gimmicks to keep the kids still. Sabe was finally entertained with... bubbles! I think the whole salon was filled with bubbles since Sabe didn't want the girl to stop blowing them haha!

About halfway through, he wanted to stand up already so I just carried him while they finished his haircut. Of course, the bubbles were still there to save the day!

Anyway, here is Sabe's hair BEFORE...

And here it is AFTER!

Introducing Mr. Shaolin Sabre, with his new mohawk!

The cut cost P295 and they were also offering a "baby's 1st haircut certificate" for an additional P195. This comes with a before and after photo and a lock of hair. I decided not to get the certificate (sorry kuripot talaga ;p) since I had a camera anyways. And besides, I was still able to get a lock of hair as a keepsake. They also offered a membership discount card that entitles members to a 10% discount on all kiddie services, valid for one year. Plus, they have products on sale too like anti-bug spray and styling gel for kids (this we bought hehe).

satisfied customer
lavet!!!

I'm so proud of Sabe for being so well behaved. I was kinda preparing myself for some kicking and screaming but he proved me wrong. Even the staff said he was such a good boy. And I just love his new hair, it really suits his personality! =)

Jelly belly back

Miley's favorite plaything these days are those clingy jelly stickers you place on your glass doors or windows. She can spend hours just arranging and rearranging those things in her room...

I love how she sings the alphabet whenever she plays with the letters. Fun and educational too!

I was afraid to let her play with these at first because she might eat them, but surprisingly she doesn't. She just likes touching and feeling the jelly (but of course, parental supervision is still needed). Sabe keeps wanting to play with them too but he keeps ripping them apart and putting them in his mouth!

Anyway, I was sitting in their kiddie table watching videos with Sabe while Miley was playing when I suddenly felt something cold and gooey on my back... looks like Miley found a new place to stick those jellies!

good thing Vins was there to take pics of the artist in action
sorry for the mahalay look, Miley needed more space for the jellies haha ;p
the finished work of art!

I hated the gooey sticky feeling (reminds me of worms haha) but who am I to get in the way of creativity? =)

Sabe's party: Success!!!

Whew! Sabe's 1st party yesterday was everything I had hoped it would be. I was able to pull off the DIY elements, the suppliers all delivered, and above all, everyone had so much fun! I'll get the official photos 2 weeks from now so my supplier ratings and in-depth kwento to follow.

For now, here are some pics from the photobooth. Fun! =)

With Sabe's party over and done with, I can relax and finally get some much needed rest from all the party planning haha! ;p

Finding Nemo

Meet the newest member of the family - NEMO! Miley chose the name herself. =) Actually, there was another fish which Miley named Mr. Giggles, but it died just a couple of days ago. :(

Nemo is the kids' first pet. Maybe next time, we'll get them a puppy when they get older. =)

It's (almost) party time!

Just 1 more day til Sabe's party woohoo!!! My stomach is in knots just thinking about all the party details - will the suppliers deliver and arrive on time? did I buy enough prizes? is the headcount for the seats and food just right? did I forget anything???

Hahaha sorry I can't help myself but be so OC with all the planning. But I'm so excited too! Anyway, here's a sneak peak of what's in store for everyone tomorrow. We are definitely in party mode over here! Wheeeee! =)

Sabe's cake smash

Sabe had fun with his cake... and ate it too!

Our little boy turns 1 (Sabre's birth story)

Today is Sabre's 1st birthday! I still remember the whole journey of being pregnant with him. If you read my posts before, you'll know that we didn't really plan on having a baby so soon after Miley. Sure we wanted more kids but we were thinking of maybe waiting a year or two. But I guess God had plans for us because I was pregnant with Sabe 6 months after I gave birth to Miley. We were nervous and excited at the same time. Excited because we would be giving Miley a sibling and a playmate (more so when we found out we were having a boy!) and nervous because we were still getting the hang of being parents and now we would have two babies to take care of!

Being pregnant for the second time was easier and yet it wasn't. It was also very different than the first. With Miley, I was so health conscious. All I wanted to eat were fruits like grapes and melons. With Sabe, I couldn't stop eating chocolate! I kept drinking Chocolait and eating Hershey's Kisses. I'm not a believer of your baby ending up looking like whatever you made him or her "lihi" to. But my mom swears that's why Sabe is darker than Miley haha! Hmmm, sige I won't be eating chocolate if ever I get pregnant again! ;p I was working all throughout this pregnancy as well and all I remember was that I had such a difficult time moving around. With Miley, I was still so active all the way until I went into labor. With Sabe, I found it so painful to walk or even turn around in bed that I just wanted to sit or sleep and do nothing.

The day before I gave birth, I was feeling so much pain and pressure on the lower part of my abdomen. I didn't feel this way with Miley so i went to my OB-GYN in the morning. Upon giving me an internal exam, she found out I was 1 cm dilated and instructed me to just keep walking around and come back at night. Even though it was torture to move, I went to Glorietta and went shopping haha! I just wanted to give birth already!

right before going to the hospital

We went to the hospital at around 10 pm. Everybody kept telling me that giving birth the 2nd time around would be a breeze, that labor wouldn't be as long as the first. Well, I was still in labor for about 10 hours! I had an epidural like before but my anesthesolgist this time was so good! I didn't feel it when he placed he needle at all and he kept me comfortable the whole time.Worth every penny we paid him. Anyway, even my doctor was puzzled why it was taking so long since I was dilating pretty well and then I stopped at around 6cm. I was stuck there for a couple of hours (they would find out later on when I pushed Sabe out that there was a cord coil around his neck, thankfully it wasn't serious). Finally at around 9am, they said I was ready to push...

Our baby boy Sabre Cael was born on April 20 at 9:16 am weighing 7 lbs. 5 oz. Our little family has now grown and was now more complete than ever.

I remember the first time Miley saw Sabe. She kept looking and pointing at him and saying "baby!"  It was like she knew instantly that this was her baby brother because she's been so sweet, gentle, and protective of him ever since he was born. No jealousy, just pure love.

Well, Sabe is indeed the baby of the family for now and I cant believe he's now 1! I keep reminding myself to cherish each and ever moment with the kids because pretty soon they'll be all grown up.

I'm sure before I know it, Sabe will be a young man, going out with friends, dating, working... But for now, he's just my baby, my little angel who'll probably grow up to be a mama's boy. =)

We love you so much Sabe! Now, I can't wait to finally celebrate his party. A labor of love indeed!

Just another day at the park

I just love lazy days where the only thing to look forward to is going to the park in the afternoon. Nothing beats quality time with the kids. =)

Eyelash extensions

Vins' cousin is opening a new brow salon soon and she conducted a test run on all the girls a while ago during Sunday lunch. She brought her staff and the house was converted into a sort of mini salon where you could have your pick of whatever service you wanted - threading, tweezing, waxing galore!

I actually have very light and thin eyebrows so no need to remove hair there. What I wanted to try were eyelash extensions. I actually don't use mascara because I hate it when I get raccoon eyes after a long day. And I don't even bother using an eyelash curler since my lashes are so short and thin anyway (no effect talaga). So extensions are perfect since you get the same dramatic effect without any effort. I wasn't able to bring my camera though so I don't have a before shot of my eyelashes. Just imagine them being short and straight and extremely boring.

Anyway, the semi-permanent eyelash extensions were applied individually by hand for that natural look. I think the whole thing lasted about an hour and a half and I actually fell asleep for most of it. After, my lashes looked like this!

BONGGA diba? I couldn't get over how nice, full and long my lashes look. Its like I have mascara on 24/7! And it doesn't feel any different. I actually catch myself scratching my eyes sometimes completely forgetting I have extensions on. They say it will last 2-4 weeks with proper care. I had a hard time tuloy washing my face kanina since I didn't want to get them wet for fear they would fall off haha! It didn't by the way. ;p

I wish my lashes could stay like this forever! So for those of you who want to get groomed and styled this summer, watch out for the opening of the new Brow House salon in Mall of Asia this May 15. =)

Father-daughter Timezone fun

Before going to Kimpura for lolo's dinner, we passed by Timezone in Greenbelt first so that Miley could have some fun. She loves playing in Timezone and this was the first time that her Daddy went with her. I just love seeing them have so much fun together. And they were both so hardcore with the games! I really think Miley will be a sporty chick when she grows up, just like her dad. =)

Hibachi!

Celebrated the birthday of Vins' lolo at Kimpura in Greenbelt 5 last week. It was a great dinner since the food was cooked in front of us, hibachi style.

This reminded me so much of the How I Met Your Mother episode where the gang goes to Shinjitsu and Barney makes a bet with Marshall and Lily that he can do all of the hibachi stuff. I kept waiting for the chefs to do the shrimp in the pocket move haha!

Miley was so amazed with all the cooking going on...

RICE, my favorite!!! Unfortunately, my cam died shortly hereafter so I have no pics of the other food while they were being cooked. But the fish, steak, and chicken were all soooo good!

Happy birthday Grandpa and may you have many more to come! =)
